Richfield is pleased to announce that Debbie Conway has been named VCAL Administrator of the Year by the Virginia Health Care Association (VHCA)/Virginia Center for Assisted Living (VCAL) in recognition of her dedication to the residents, staff and family members of The Oaks, a part of Richfield in Salem, Va.
Conway, serving The Oaks for 12 years, was nominated by those who know her work and was selected by a panel of her peers for this distinguished honor. She was presented with the award at the VHCA/VCAL Annual Awards Banquet at The Homestead in Hot Springs, Va. on October 11, 2011.
“Ms. Conway is a true example of what servant leadership is all about,” said Robert Rector, President and COO of Richfield Retirement Community. “When decisions are made, it is always from the vantage point of what is in the best interest of the residents and her team. She exemplifies the characteristics of empathy, listening and stewardship towards others.”
The VCAL Assisted Living Administrator of the Year Award recognizes an administrator for outstanding statewide leadership who has been active in the Association for at least there years, has current direct supervisory responsibility, demonstrated outstanding leadership ability and contributed significantly to the profession of long term care administration.
The VHCA/VCAL represents nearly 90 percent of all nursing facilities and a growing number of assisted living facilities and continuing care retirement communities in Virginia.
