After 62 years of marriage and extensive Amtrak travel all over the United States and Canada, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Barfield made their home here at Richfield Living in May 2018. Hugh came to The Richfield Health Center-Salem following a stroke for rehab. After his recovery, the couple moved into Lake Estate Cottages. “Living at Richfield is wonderful - it’s just ideal. Very comfortable, very convenient, very beautiful” said Joann. She continues, “We are right on the lake and have a beautiful view with wonderful neighbors. I try to participate in many activities. There is a monthly lunch and learn program which is fantastic. There are many other activities, including exercise programs, on the campus. I participate in those, as well as the exercise program at the Wellness Gym.” When it came time for Hugh to be in assisted living he moved into the Joseph C. Thomas Center. Knowing that she can walk over and visit him every day from her cottage means everything to Joann.

I don’t think I can be happy anywhere else. I recommend living at Richfield to all my friends. I have a lot of friends who are downsizing, and I am hoping they will be coming here.
