Defining Assisted Living
Let’s start by defining exactly what assisted living is, and what it is not. Assisted living typically includes private or semi-private accommodations, meals, 24-hour supervision, support with daily activities such as bathing, dressing and medication management as well as social opportunities, activities and outings.
Assisted living is not a nursing home and as such is not for those with medical conditions that require round-the-clock care or specialized care such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, although nursing care and/or memory care may be on the same campus.
Assisted Living at Richfield
We offer two distinct assisted living environments on our campus:
The Oaks
The Oaks features spacious private or semi-private residences in a single-level setting with private baths.
Joseph C. Thomas Center
Joseph C. Thomas features large private rooms grouped in “households” of 16 residents each with a shared kitchen, common area, laundry room and access to an outdoor courtyard.
Both residences offer individualized service plans, a licensed nurse on-duty or on-call 24 hours-a-day, resident assistants on-duty around-the-clock, medication administration and assistance with personal care. Residents also enjoy amenities such as restaurant–style dining, a private dining room for special gatherings, a beautiful activity room, common areas, outdoor spaces and onsite hair salon.
