Health Care Services For Seniors

Skilled senior care services for comfort & peace of mind

Our assisted living, memory and long-term care options provide comprehensive senior care services tailored to meet individual needs. At Richfield, our purpose is to help individuals experience life to the fullest, through every phase of their journey.

We all want to live as independently as possible, for as long as possible. Yet for many of us, there may come a time when some level of assistance and support is needed. We strive daily to provide environments that are nurturing, comfortable, and secure, where each resident’s individual qualities are recognized and respected.

Individualized senior care for those you love the most.

If you or someone you love shows signs of needing help, Richfield Living, located in the Roanoke Valley offers assisted living that offers wide-ranging solutions to provide peace of mind for you and your loved ones.

Our households strike the perfect balance between assistance and autonomy. Designed to enhance quality of life, our enrichment programs and individualized care plans are tailored to the personal needs and preferences of each resident.

Richfield offers two distinct assisted living residences on our campus — The Oaks and Joseph C. Thomas Center. Joseph C. Thomas also offers three households dedicated to memory care. Within these households, we incorporate resident-directed approaches and life enrichment programming with the goal of enhancing the quality of life for residents.

If the need arises for your loved one’s long-term care, The Health Center on both our Salem and Roanoke campuses provides skilled senior care delivered 24/7 by a team of knowledgeable healthcare professionals. The Health Center – Salem Campus was the first in Southwest Virginia to offer this household model of care which focuses on the residents participating in decisions relating to their specific needs. The Health Center – Roanoke Campus is now open and offers the same household model of care.

Our residences offer 24 hour supervision, activity and wellness programs, health monitoring, medication management, meals, and assistance with personal care. We strive to provide environments that are nurturing, comfortable and secure, where each resident’s individual qualities are recognized and respected.

Our Vacation & Recovery Stay Program, a respite care option, allows caregivers time to vacation, deal with personal or business affairs, travel or enjoy needed rest from the stress and strain of round-the-clock caregiving.

"Much as I loved to do yard work, and did a lot of it when we were in our home, now I don’t have to do it anymore. Which is a good thing, because I don’t love it as much as I used to! I definitely would recommend living at Richfield to all my friends."

Frequently asked questions about assisted living & memory care

Our admissions counselors are experienced and are available to assess individuals to determine which services will best meet their needs. If you’re unable to come to us, we will make arrangements to go to you – either at home or in the hospital.

Yes. We feel it is extremely important for residents to maintain a strong, continuing relationship with their physicians. It may be after moving to Richfield  your personal physician is not conveniently located, or is not able to provide you with the necessary services should you need assisted living or nursing care. In that case we’ll be happy to assist you in selecting a physician who will meet your needs.

The main thing to consider is the individual’s safety. If your loved one is wandering, exit seeking, and unable to recognize his or her surroundings, memory care is recommended. Richfield provides memory care programs in both our assisted living and nursing care environments. In assisted living, individuals must be ambulatory, able to feed themselves, and require the services of a secured environment. The Memory Care Program in our nursing center is for individuals who need a higher level of care and are in the more advanced stages of dementia or Alzheimer’s.

At Richfield, we believe caring for individuals with memory impairment is a privilege and recognize that each resident requires a specialized approach to care which is unique to them. Therefore, our memory care program is designed to provide an environment that is nurturing, safe and comfortable.
